PIETER ADRIAAN ART BOESER (1858-1935)

A Dutch and Coptologist. He studied Egyptology in under Adolf ERMAN and at Leipzig under Georg . He taught at the University of Leiden (1910-1928). In 1925 he succeeded Willem Pleyte as director of the Egyptian collections in the Leiden Museum.

With Pleyte, he published the museum’s catalog of , Manuscrits coptes du Musee d’antiquites des Pays-Bas à Leide (Leiden, 1897). Boeser then wrote Die Denkmäler der saitischen, griechischen-römischen und koptischen Zeit: Beschreibung der ägyptischen Sammlung des Niederländischen Reichsmuseums der Altertümer in Leiden (7 vols., 1915).
