MIRRIT GHALI (1908-1992)

A Founder of the Society of Coptic Archaeology. He was one of the important Coptic personalities of the 20th century. He studied and political science in Paris and joined the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1938, he published a significant book entitled The Policy of Tomorrow (in Arabic), in which he criticized successive Egyptian governments for ignoring the and social needs of the people. He was a member of Parliament (1950-1952) and a minister for social affairs.

He was instrumental in the between the Coptic and Ethiopian Churches in the 1940s. Mirrit Ghali is one of the editors of the Coptic Encyclopedia.
