Letter Of Peter To Philip (NHC VIII, 2)


A Gnostic dialogue between the risen Christ and his disciples, preceded by a short letter addressed by to his “fellow Apostle” Philip. The title occurs at the beginning: “The which He Sent to Philip.” Jesus’ consists of various topics of mythology, concluding with a commission to the Apostles to go out and preach. Extant only in Coptic, the to Philip (Ep. Pet. Phil.) was originally composed in Greek, probably in the early third century, possibly in Egypt.
