LETTER OF PETER TO PHILIP (NHC VIII, 2)
A Gnostic revelation dialogue between the risen Christ and his disciples, preceded by a short letter addressed by Peter to his “fellow Apostle” Philip. The title occurs at the beginning: “The Letter of Peter which He Sent to Philip.” Jesus’ revelation consists of various topics of Gnostic mythology, concluding with a commission to the Apostles to go out and preach. Extant only in Coptic, the Letter of Peter to Philip (Ep. Pet. Phil.) was originally composed in Greek, probably in the early third century, possibly in Egypt.
