JEAN ANTOINE LETRONNE (1787-1848)
A French archaeologist and classical scholar. He was born in Paris. He became keeper of national archives (1840) and took a prominent interest in the deciphering of hieroglyphics by J. F. CHAMPOLLION and Thomas Young. He made a few contributions to Coptic studies. He died in Paris.
