Gospel Of Truth (NHC I, 3; XII, 2)

GOSPEL OF TRUTH (NHC I, 3; XII, 2)

A homiletic meditation whose title is given in its opening words: “The Gospel of truth is joy for those who have received from the Father of truth the grace of knowing him.” Preserved only in Coptic, the Gospel of Truth was composed in Greek early in the second century, probably in Alexandria. Similarities in the text to the extant fragments of the writings of the Christian Gnostic teacher Valentinus have led some scholars to attribute the text to him.
