(statement of the faith)

A formula issued by Emperor in 638 as a substitute for “energies” (the Greek energiai), which had been prohibited from use in relation to the person of Jesus. According to this formula, the two natures, human and divine, are united in the formerly accepted by , patriarch of , and Honorius, Pope of Rome, as well as the held in 638 and 639.

The immediate successors of Honorius, (638-640) and John IV (640-642), on the contrary, affirmed the rejection pronounced by Heraclius.
