CHARLES LENORMANT (1802-1859)

A French and numismatist. He accompanied to Egypt (1828); his journal of the journey through Egypt was posthumously published in 1861. He was professor of Egyptian at the (1848). Several of his many publications deal with Egyptology and were of great value in their time. His contributions to Coptic studies may be found in A Coptic Bibliography (, 1950, 1969).
