ALLBERRY, CHARLES ROBERT CECIL AUSTIN (1913-1943)

An English Coptologist. He was educated at Christ College, Cambridge, and became the first Lady scholar. He and published the Chester Beatty Manichaean Book and other Coptic texts. He also published articles in Journal of Egyptian , of which he became the editor in 1939. He joined the Royal Air Force in 1940 and was killed in action over Germany in 1943. A list of his specific contributions to Coptic studies can be found in A Coptic Bibliography (Kammerer, 1950, 1969).
